Description:

This report covers a four year monitoring project conducted in the Chinchaga and Caribou Mountains caribou ranges in Northwest Alberta. Led by the Northwest Species at Risk (NWSAR) Committee in collaboration with the Alberta Biodiversity Monitoring Institute (ABMI) and the Alberta Trappers Association (ATA), the study presents findings from a four-year acoustic monitoring pilot conducted in Alberta's Northwest. This is the final report for NWSAR and ATA joint project for Birds. Project data is from 2020-2023. The study demonstrates the effectiveness of ARUs in capturing spatial and temporal patterns in bird communities and supports their use as a scalable, cost-efficient tool for biodiversity monitoring in species-at-risk landscapes.
