Sharing Our Work

Sharing Our Work

We are committed to making scientific data freely available, and work hard to make our scientific data and data products open and accessible. Our science communication activities seek to ensure that our work is well understood by and accessible to key audiences and decision-makers from around Alberta and beyond.

Explore our Reports and Analytic Tools

  • We create analytic tools and resources to help you answer biodiversity and land cover questions. Utilize the Mapping Portal to build your own maps, the WildTrax platform to explore data from wildlife cameras, or explore the Biodiversity Browser – Alberta’s Encyclopedia of Life – to discover the wide variety of species that call Alberta home.
  • We regularly release reports on the status of biodiversity in different regions across the province. To view our latest reports, please visit the Online reporting section.
  • Dive deeper and explore the Publications and Protocols section. Here, you can read and download our academic publications, annual reports, monitoring protocols, and more.

Open and Accessible Data

  • You can download biodiversity and land cover data, along with associated metadata, through our open data portal. All of our data is freely available for download and use to encourage collaboration in scientific research and environmental stewardship.
  • You can browse and download data from wildlife cameras and ARUs using WildTrax’s Data Discover platform. Many other organizations have made their data public—for instance, you can download data from point counts at over 100,000 locations collated from multiple partner data sources by the Boreal Avian Modeling Project.
