Sampling Plant Diversity and Rarity at Landscape Scales: Importance of Sampling Time in Species Detectability

Published: Apr 15, 2014
Description: Documenting and estimating species richness at regional or landscape scales has been an emphasis for conservation efforts. Rarely, however, are sampling efforts assessed on how they affect detection and estimates of species richness and rarity. A comparison of time-unlimited and time-limited methods of sampling vascular plant species richness in Alberta reveals the importance of sampling time in species detectability.
