In the spring of 2020, ABMI initiated a pilot project to explore the effectiveness of environmental DNA (eDNA) technology for monitoring amphibians in open water wetland habitats. This document describes the methods used to collect eDNA for this project. The methods described are based off procedures developed by Brian Eaton's team at InnoTech Alberta. ABMI and Innotech collaboratively developed the methods in this document through a partnership on the project. This document details the sample layout of collection and sample procedures, including the filtration of water and preservation of the filtered material including DNA.
