Monitoring Hydro Temporal Variability in Alberta, Canada with Multi-Temporal Sentinel-1 SAR Data
Published: Feb 7, 2018
Description: This journal article presents a method to track temporal variability in surface water extent in Alberta. The method uses open source synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data to monitor near-real time surface water extent by classifying pixels across time. The current resulting method is able to differentiate between permanent and recurring lakes, and rivers greater than 30m. The method is to be further refined with the new Sentinel-1B data and future RADARSAT Constellation Mission (2018) data.
