The ABMI Data & Analytics Portal offers various ways to access our biodiversity data on over 2,500 species—including birds, mammals, vascular plants, lichen, bryophytes, aquatic invertebrates, and soil mites. Whether you access our data through a quick search, look through our extensive species' listings in our Biodiversity Browser, or view our mapping products via our Mapping Portal, you'll find the ABMI’s most recent data based on countless hours of field work, taxonomic identification, GIS mapping, and scientific analysis.

The ABMI has accumulated a huge volume of raw data over 10+ years of operations—including data for species and habitats at both terrestrial and wetland sites—with more data added each year. These data are available for download here. 

With the Biodiversity Browser explore ABMI data on over 2,500 species found in Alberta. This includes access to hundreds of species profiles, such as the Downy Woodpecker and Balsam Fir—our library is growing daily! 

In addition, review summaries of our multi-species analyses on intactness, species richness, and uniqueness for overall biodiversity or broken down by taxonomic group.  

Over its decade-plus operations, the ABMI has generated a comprehensive data set on Alberta’s species, their habitats, and the extent and type of human footprint across the province. With the accumulation of this information, the ABMI has developed analysis methods to predict species relative abundance, and to examine species responses to vegetation types, soil types, and human footprint in Alberta. These methods have been applied to hundreds of species.

Summarized results for each species are available in individual species profiles accessed through the Biodiversity Browser. Reports are available for download.

The ABMI Mapping Portal is an online mapping platform which provides you with the ability to access, visualize, and create customized ABMI maps and data summaries for areas of interest in the province of Alberta. Some key features allow you to:

• Display ABMI dataset by selecting and zooming into a specific areas of interest;
• Access area summaries of human footprint and biodiversity intactness for a selected area of interest;
• Use the layer swiper tool to compare between maps, such as current and reference predicted relative abundance maps for individual species.

Development of the Mapping Portal is ongoing as we continue to add new ABMI datasets and new features.
