ABMI Field Crews
ABMI field crews are the core of a successful monitoring season. Working in pairs with supervision from a full-time staff member, field partners work together to accurately measure biodiversity at their assigned sites.
Summer field technologists typically spend the duration of the field season with the same field partner. Crews are accompanied by a full-time staff member at least once per shift to ensure that they are collecting data properly. These field crews of 2 usually consist of one technologist that surveys plants and one technologist that collects physical site data. In the spring, there is no difference between which protocols each technician performs. All applicants who are chosen to be interviewed are asked to complete a quick 20 minute vascular plant species ID quiz. The results of this quiz do not impact whether or not an applicant is hired, but rather are used to determine placement within the team when the applicant is hired.
